What is a data leak?

A data leak is data that hackers have stolen from companies. Over the years, hackers have stolen billions of data records from companies such as MyFitnessPal, LinkedIn, and other large and even small websites. The stolen records are then shared among cyber criminals and contain email addresses, passwords, phone numbers, addresses, and credit card information, which they use to break into systems and online accounts.
